Radiologic technologist students have the opportunity to earn either an Associate or a Bachelor’s Degree. An Associate Degree, which is the most prevalent among technicians, normally requires 18 months to two years to finish based upon the course load and program. A Bachelor’s Degree will take more time at as much as four years to finish and is more comprehensive in scope. The majority of students select a degree major in Radiography, but there are other related majors that may be appropriate as well. Something to keep in mind is that Bodega Bay CA radiographer schools have a clinical training or lab component as part of their curriculum. It may often be fulfilled by taking part in an internship or externship program which many colleges offer through local clinics and hospitals in their area. After you have graduated from any of the degree programs, you must comply with any certification or licensing mandates in California or the state you will be practicing in as applicable.

After you have graduated from an Radiologist college, based on the state where you will be employed you might need to be licensed. The majority of states do mandate licensing, and their requirements vary so check with your state. Currently, all states that do require licensure will recognize The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination for the purpose of licensing, but a number provide other alternatives for testing also. Some states also call for certification as a component of the licensing process, otherwise it is optional. Having said that, numerous Bodega Bay CA employers will only hire radiology techs that are certified so it may increase your career options to earn certification. ARRT’s certification program involves graduation from an approved program as well as a passing score on their rigorous exam. ARRT also demands re-certification every two years, which can be met with 24 credits of continuing ed, or by passing an exam.

So although you can still obtain your online degree, a large portion of the training will be satisfied either in a school lab or in an internship off-campus. Practical training is typically performed in area hospitals, outpatient clinics or private practices in sponsorship with the schools. But the online segment of the training can be accessed in the privacy of your Bodega Bay CA home. Students who keep working while obtaining their degree typically discover that the online style of education is far more practical with their busy schedules. Plus online schools are often cheaper than on-campus options. In addition to lower tuition, costs for commuting and study materials may be lessened also. But just make certain that the online program you pick is accredited (more on the benefits of accreditation later). So if you are dedicated enough to learn with this less formalized style of training, then an online school may be the right option for you.

What to Ask X Ray Tech Programs

After you have chosen the type of degree that you would like to obtain, you can start the process of finding and assessing Bodega Bay CA x-ray tech schools. You will also need to decide if you want to attend online classes or travel to a local campus. If you choose the latter, then obviously the location of the school will be important. The price of tuition and supplementary expenses will be an important variable as well. But along with cost and location, what more should you factor in when comparing colleges? Well, you need to check out if the colleges are accredited, and if they sponsor externship or internship programs. To help you learn some of these essential details prior to making your selection, we have compiled a list of questions that you must ask the programs you are looking at.

Are the X-Ray Tech Colleges Accredited? The majority of xray tech colleges have obtained some form of accreditation, whether regional or national. Even so, it’s still imperative to make sure that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly respected accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Programs obtaining accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone an extensive evaluation of their teachers and educational materials. If the program is online it can also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets online or distance education. All accrediting organizations should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. In addition to guaranteeing a quality education, accreditation will also help in getting financial assistance and student loans, which are often not offered for non-accredited colleges. Accreditation can also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And numerous Bodega Bay CA health facilities will only hire a graduate of an accredited college for entry-level positions.

Are Internship Programs Offered? Ask if the California radiology tech colleges you are reviewing have relationships with local hospitals or clinics for internship programs. Internships are not only an excellent manner to obtain hands on experience in a clinical environment, they are also a means to fulfill the clinical training requirement for the majority of programs. As a supplemental benefit, they may help graduates and students form professional connections in the Bodega Bay CA health care community and assist with job placement.

Is Job Placement Help provided? You will undoubtedly wish to hit the ground running after graduation, but finding that initial job in a new field can be difficult without assistance. Ask if the radiographer schools you are reviewing have job placement programs and what their placement rates are. Rapid and high placement rates are a good sign that the schools have large networks and good relationships with Bodega Bay CA healthcare employers. It also corroborates that their graduates are well regarded and in demand.

Where is the College Located? For a lot of students, the school they choose will need to be within commuting distance of their Bodega Bay CA home. Those who have decided to attend classes online obviously will not have to trouble themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of area internships will be of concern. Something to bear in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a school that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you might have to pay a higher tuition. State colleges often charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges normally charge a higher tuition to those students that don’t reside within their districts.

How Large are the Classes ? Unless you are the type of person that likes to sit way in the rear of class or get lost in the crowd, you will probably want a smaller class size. Small classes enable more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Bodega Bay CA schools you are researching what the average teacher to student ratio is for their classes. If practical you may want to sit in on one or more classes before making your final decision. This will also give you a chance to speak with several of the students and instructors to get their opinions regarding the x-ray technician program also.

Can the Program Accommodate your Schedule? And last you must verify that the x-ray tech  school you finally choose can furnish the class schedule you need. This is especially essential if you opt to continue working while you attend classes. If you need to schedule night or weekend classes in Bodega Bay CA, verify that they are available. If you can only attend part-time, check if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would need to enroll in. Also, find out what the procedure is for making up any classes that you may miss due to work, illness or family emergencies.

Why Did You Choose to Be an Xray Technician?

When prepping to interview for an X-Ray Tech position, it's a good idea to review questions you might be asked. You will probably be asked questions pertaining primarily to radiography, as well as a certain number of routine interview questions, so you must organize a number of approaches about how you want to answer them. Since there are several variables that go into selecting a career, you can address this primary question in a variety of ways. Some Background on Bodega Bay California

Bodega Bay, California

Bodega Bay is a town and census-designated place (CDP) in Sonoma County, California, United States. The population was 1,077 at the 2010 census. The town, located along State Route 1, is on the eastern side of Bodega Harbor, an inlet of Bodega Bay on the Pacific coast.

Bodega Bay is the site of the first Russian structures built in California, which were built in 1809 by Commerce Counseller Ivan Alexandrovich Kuskov of the Russian-American Company in the lead-up to the establishment of Fort Ross. For the Russians, the settlement in Bodega Bay was called Port Rumyantsev, named after the Russian Foreign Minister Nikolai Petrovich Rumyantsev, and it served as a port to support Fort Ross and the larger Russian community known as Colony Ross.[5][6]

The location scenes in the Alfred Hitchcock-directed film The Birds (1963) were filmed in both Bodega Bay and nearby Bodega (though both were represented as being parts of the movie's Bodega Bay.) The town markets itself with the film in many ways, including its Birds-themed visitors' center, although none of the film's primary locations are found there. The town was also featured in the cult horror movie Puppet Master (1989).

PG+E wanted to build a nuclear power plant on Bodega Head in the 1960s, but the plans were shut down after a large protest (the first for environmental reasons) and the fault, which they found while they were digging the hole for the first reactor. The hole filled with water and became known as "The Hole in the Head".
