Mahomet /məˈhɒmɪt/ is a town in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,258 at the 2010 census. Mahomet is located approximately ten miles west of Champaign at the junction of Interstate 74 and IL 47.

There were 1,654 households out of which 51.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.9% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.9% were non-families. 14.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
