The cost of tuition and secondary expenditures will be a determining factor as well. But along with location and cost, what else should you consider when reviewing colleges? Well, you need to find out if the schools are accredited, and if they sponsor internship or externship programs. To help you learn some of these crucial details prior to making your selection, we have assembled a list of questions that you must ask the schools you are reviewing.

Are the X-Ray Technician Schools Accredited? The majority of radiology technician schools have earned some form of accreditation, whether regional or national. Nevertheless, it’s still important to make sure that the school and program are accredited. One of the most highly respected accrediting agencies in the field of radiology is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Schools earning accreditation from the JRCERT have undergone a detailed review of their instructors and course materials. If the college is online it may also obtain accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets distance or online learning. All accrediting agencies should be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Besides ensuring a quality education, accreditation will also help in obtaining financial assistance and student loans, which are frequently not offered for non-accredited programs. Accreditation might also be a pre-requisite for licensing and certification as required. And numerous Norton KS health facilities will only hire graduates of an accredited program for entry-level jobs.

Are Internships Sponsored? Inquire if the Kansas radiology technician colleges you are assessing have associations with regional clinics or hospitals for internship programs. Not only are internships a great means to get hands on experience in a clinical setting, they are additionally a means to fulfill the practical training requirement for most programs. As a supplemental benefit, they may help graduates and students develop professional connections in the Norton KS health care community and assist with job placement.

Is Job Placement Help provided? You will undoubtedly want to secure employment quickly after graduation, but getting that first job in a new profession can be difficult without support. Ask if the x-ray tech schools you are reviewing have job placement programs and what their success rates are. Rapid and high placement rates are a good indication that the schools have large networks and great relationships with Norton KS healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their students are highly regarded and sought after.

Where is the Program Located? For a number of students, the college they pick will need to be within driving distance of their Norton KS residence. Those who have decided to attend online classes obviously will not have to worry themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of importance. Something to keep in mind is that if you decide to enroll in a college that is out of state or even out of your local area, you might have to pay a higher tuition. State colleges usually charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges often charge a higher tuition for those students that don’t reside within their districts.

How Large are the Classes ? Unless you are the sort of student that prefers to sit far in the rear of the classroom or get lost in the crowd, you will likely want a small class size. Smaller classes enable more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the Norton KS schools you are looking at what the average student to teacher ratio is for their classes. If practical you may prefer to monitor one or more classes before making your final determination. This will also give you an opportunity to speak with several of the instructors and students to get their perspectives regarding the radiology technician program also.

Does the College Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you must confirm that the x-ray tech  school you finally pick can furnish the class schedule you need. This is particularly crucial if you opt to continue working while you attend classes. If you need to schedule evening or weekend classes in Norton KS, check that they are available. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, check if that is an alternative and how many credit hours or courses you would need to carry. Also, learn what the protocol is for making up any classes that you might miss due to illness, work or family emergencies.
